Georgia tops Western Carolina 45-16

Georgia Bulldogs

Surviving a sluggish start, the Georgia Bulldogs cranked up the offense and defeated the Western Carolina Catamounts 45-16 in Athens.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 14 of 20 passes for 174 yards and two touchdowns while backup quarterback Joe Cox was 3 of 6 for 48 yards and tossed a touchdown to Demiko Goodman.

Stafford’s touchdown passes were completed to Sean Bailey (15 yards) and Thomas Brown (10 yards). Thomas Brown, Knowshon Moreno and Brannan Southerland all scored rushing touchdowns for the Bulldogs.

Moreno’s touchdown was his first as a Bulldog and came on a 23-yard run. He finished with 94 yards on 13 carries.

With the win, UGA VI became the all-time winningest mascot for the Bulldogs. UGA VI surpassed UGA IV, who had 77 wins during his tenure.
