Georgia Tech To Engrave Bowl Ring With 45-42 Win Over Georgia
As participants in the 2008 Chick-fil-A Bowl, each Georgia Tech player receives $500 in gifts from the bowl. The AJC is reporting that as part of their gift, the players will receive a ring designed by the team’s seniors. The seniors have decided to include the score of their recent 45-42 victory over the Georgia Bulldogs on the ring.
To me, this is an odd decision by the Tech players. Sure they beat Georgia in Athens and snapped a 7-game losing streak. But it was a regular season game, they didn’t play for nor win the ACC title and they are playing in a lower seeded bowl than the Bulldogs.
I guess as a Tech player, it’s a milestone victory. They hadn’t won since 2000, and since 1991 Georgia owns a 14-4 record against them. Georgia Tech can celebrate all they want, but history shows that the Bulldogs have dominated and will likely continue to dominate the Yellow Jackets.
To each his own.
I can’t believe they are doing this again. They also did it after their last win in 2000.

It’s a ring for tying for the Coastal Division. The seniors decided to add on the score since that is a major part of the season (for both schools), but would not be signified with a ring for the ACC. This story was case of bad journalism.

Bad journalism or not, this is still the most pathetic thing I have ever heard. By that logic, UGA should have had rings made last year to celebrate ‘tying’ with UT for the SEC East. How lame. I guess they will need these rings to remember the good times after another decade of getting owned.

Georgia Tech will probably start beating the Bulldogs more in the next ten years. UGA relies to much on the passing game. Georgia Tech sells the run and to open up your passing attack you must have a successful running game. UGA will not have a running back like Moreno in a long time and they will pass way to much for pass happy Mark Richt. Now Georgia Tech finally has a much better coaching staff than UGA it wont be easy for UGA to compete with GT anymore. So there will probably be many more rings for Georgia Tech to have in the future for this rivalry. Good luck Dawgs, you are going to need it.

Next year I can see GT having at least 3 interceptions in Atlanta against UGA. We will probably put the score and turnovers from UGA on the ring starting next year.

Since they only beat us like once every one hundred years their putting the ring on the score that way they can remember the last time they beat us.

It’s amazing how one win makes the Jacket fans think their coaching staff is better all of a sudden. There weren’t too many people on board with the Paul Johnson hire until midway through the season.
We’ll see how he does in the long run. But I don’t see him coming close to Mark Richt’s record of 82-21 in 8 seasons.

I see Paul Johnson blowing away Mark Richts record or 82 -21 in 8 seasons. You can already see it happening. One thing is for sure, I never see Georgia Tech ever playing anybody and getting blown out like Floriday did to Georgia. UGA is my second favorite team and they were embarrassing against Florida.

After LSU slaughtered them in the bowl game I don’t think I’d brag to loud if I were them!! After all they only won by 3 against us and LSU put a 38/3 on them. What a good game!!!!!

Good thing gt was playing the 5th best SEC team in their own back yard last night. Just think what the gators, the tide, the DAWGS, the rebels would have done to them last night. That would have been nasty for pj and his band of “stumble bees”

I was just wondering if all these Tech fans watched their teams bowl game??? Why are you even on here talking? The SEC is far better and we all know that. UGA played bad this year against GT, but there in no need to say that Paul Johnson and the Tech team is better. GT fans make themselves sound ignorant.

Good luck against LSU next year UGA. They look destined to slaughter you at home. Damn, after a few SEC losses you have to go to Atlanta and play Tech and the triple option. 2009 looks like a poor year for UGA. They should be a preseason number 23 next year behind Boise State. It looks like GT will be preseason number 19 behind Alabama. The Paul Johnson years look good for Tech and the Richt years look very subpar for UGA.

Good luck against LSU, we took care of them this season something your team couldnt come close to doing. Dont go gettin all high and mighty on your coach and that crazy triple option crap that is not going to last, teams are gonna start eatin Tech alive, just give them time, the triple option will fail, Just like Tech in the Chick-fil-la bowl.

UGA SUCKS. THE 2009 PREDICTION, 7 WINS AND 5 LOSSES….LOSE BIG TO OKLAHOMA STATE AND ARIZONA STATE. LSU TOPPLES JOE COX AND GETS HURT FOR THE WHOLE YEAR. THEN GEORGIA TECH HAS A EASY WIN 48 TO 26. HELL, THEY MAY LOSE FIVE GAMES BECAUSE FLORIDA BEATS UGA EVERY YEAR.

i think it’s clear that the option still works just fine, we are number 11 in the bcs poll, while you guys are now the inferior school in the state, can’t wait til that game, which is at georgia tech this year..have fun being number 2 in the state for a while
