Georgia To Face Michigan State in Capital One Bowl

Posted by Kevin on 12/07/2008 - Permalink

The Georgia Bulldogs have accepted an invitation to the Capital One Bowl in Orlando, Florida to face the Michigan State Spartans of the Big Ten Conference. The game will be played on Thursday, January 1, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. EST (Buy and Sell Tickets).

Georgia’s bid to the Capital One Bowl is certainly less than they had expected at the beginning of the year. The Dawgs were ranked number one in the preseason and had expectations of playing for the SEC Championship, reaching a BCS Bowl and possibly playing in the National Championship game.

This will be Georgia’s 5th appearance overall in the Capital One Bowl, which was formerly known as the Tangerine Bowl and Florida Citrus Bowl. Listed below are Georgia’s previous results:

  • 2004 – Georgia 34, Purdue 27 (OT)
  • 1993 – Georgia 21, Ohio State 14
  • 1984 - Georgia 17, Florida State 17
  • 1974 – Miami-OH 21, Georgia 10

Nice, I’m glad that we did not fall to the Outback Bowl. Hopefully our defense will be able to contain Javon Ringer.
