A single by Lyle Allen in the top of the 9th plated two runs, and Georgia went on to defeat Georgia Tech 7-5 at Turner Field. The win evened the season series between the Bulldogs and Yellow Jackets at one game each.
The Bulldogs desperately needed this win after losing eight of their last nine games. The Diamond Dawgs have now won two straight and head to Columbia to face the South Carolina Gamecocks this weekend (Thur-Fri-Sat).
Georgia has already clinched a berth in the 2009 SEC Tournament in Hoover, Alabama, which begins on Wednesday, May 20. The Dawgs really need to pick up a couple of wins, or even a sweep, against the Gamecocks to improve their seeding.
