Georgia Basketball Practice Starts Friday
New head coach Mark Fox will start a new era in Georgia Bulldogs Basketball tomorrow. The Hoop Dawgs will have their first practice, and will begin to learn the triangle offense.
Sophomores Trey Thompkins and Dustin Ware and senior Albert Jackson are the top returning starters for the Bulldogs. Other returnees include juniors Chris Barnes and Jeremy Price, sophomores Travis Leslie and Drazen Zlovaric and redshirt freshman Ebuka Anyaorah.
The Hoop Dawgs will welcome two incoming freshmen, guards DeMario Mayfield and Vincent Williams. Transfers Gerald Robinson, Jr. (Tennessee State) and Connor Nolte (Furman) will have to sit out the 2009-10 season under NCAA rules. However, they should provide the Dawgs with good competition in practices.
Georgia is coming off of a dismal 12-20 (3-13 SEC) season in which Dennis Felton was fired. Mark Fox brings some new energy and hope to the program, but it may be slow from the start. The Dawgs really need some top recruits, and depth will likely be an issue.
How do you think the Dawgs will perform this season? A .500 year is what I expect. Any post-season tournament would be considered above expectations.
