Flat first half dooms Dawgs in 66-60 loss to Kentucky

Georgia started the game flat and uninspired which led to a 66-60 loss at Kentucky this afternoon. The Bulldogs rallied in the second half, but couldn’t get any closer than six points.

The loss drops Georgia to 14-6 overall and 3-4 in the SEC, good enough for last place in the SEC East.

Georgia never led in the game and trailed by 15 at the half. But the Hoop Dawgs slowly chipped away at Kentucky’s lead, but couldn’t get close enough when it mattered.

Trey Thompkins had a dismal day, only making 2-of-10 shots from the field and was 0-5 from three-point range. Several plays were designed for him in the closing minutes and he missed every shot. Thompkins finished with 9 points and 11 rebounds.

Speaking of dismal, Travis Leslie was 0-for-7 from the floor and finished with 5 points, all from the free-throw line.

Dustin Ware led the Dawgs with 18 points. Gerald Robinson scored 12 and Jeremy Price added 9, all in the 2nd half.

Next up for Georgia is a trip to Fayetteville to face the Arkansas Razorbacks on Wednesday, February 2. The game will be televised by CSS at 9:00 p.m. ET.
