Georgia trailed Xavier by four late in the second half. But after Trey Thompkins fouled out, the Hoop Dawgs went cold and lost to the visiting Xavier Musketeers 65-57.

Thompkins led the Bulldogs with 14 points, but didn’t finish the game after some questionable foul calls. Trey also had 9 rebounds and was 0-for-3 from three-point range.

Travis Leslie, Gerald Robinson and Dustin Ware each added 10 points. Jeremy Price scored 6 but also fouled out of the game.

With 8:44 remaining, Georgia tied the game at 44 each. But Xavier went on a 10-0 run to put the game out of reach.

The loss drops Georgia to 16-7 overall (5-4 SEC). After a strong start to the season at 12-2, the Dawgs have gone 4-5 and are in danger of missing the NCAA Tournament.

Next up for the Bulldogs is a trip to Columbia to face South Carolina on Saturday, February 12. The game will be televised by the SEC Network at 4:00 p.m. ET.
