Georgia beats Auburn 69-51 in 1st Round of 2011 SEC Tournament

Trey Thompkins scored 22 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Georgia over Auburn 69-51 in the first round of the 2011 SEC Tournament. The win improves UGA’s overall record to 21-10.

Travis Leslie also had a double-double for the Bulldogs with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Gerald Robinson scored 11 while Jeremy Price and Chris Barnes each added 8.

Georgia will now face Alabama on Friday in the 2nd round. The game will tip off at 1:00 p.m. ET on the SEC Network. The Hoop Dawgs lost at Alabama 65-57 on March 5.

The Dawgs improved their chances at receiving an NCAA Tournament invitation with the convincing victory. Most services currently predict Georgia to make the field.
