The Georgia Bulldogs, who finished 21-11 overall and 9-7 in the SEC, have received an at-large invitation to play in the 2011 NCAA Basketball Tournament. UGA was placed in the East Regional as a #10 seed and will face Washington on Friday in Charlotte.

The first-round game between the Bulldogs and the Huskies will be the first ever between the two schools. Washington, who finished 3rd in the Pac-10 regular-season, won the Pac-10 Tournament Championship for the second straight year.

The winner of the Georgia-Washington game will face the winner of (2) North Carolina vs. (15) Long Island on Sunday. Other top teams in the East bracket include Ohio State, West Virginia, Kentucky and Syracuse.

This is Georgia’s 10th appearance in the NCAA Tournament (UGA Basketball History). The Dawgs last made the tourney in 2008 after winning the SEC Tournament.

For Mark Fox, this will be his fourth appearance in the tournament and first as head coach of the Bulldogs. He took Nevada to the Big Dance in 2005, 2006 and 2007. The Wolf Pack advanced to the 2nd round in 2005 and 2007.
