2011 G-Day Food Drive

SicEmDawgs.com

UGASaturday, April 16 is G-Day, the annual spring football game between the hedges. There will also be a Food Drive and Dawg fans are encouraged to bring food to donate.

For the third year, the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia and the University of Georgia G-Day Game are teaming up to help alleviate hunger in our community. The Athletic Department asks that fans bring a bag of food to be admitted to the annual Red & Black game on Saturday, April 16th at 1 pm. All collections will go to assisting families in need in your area.

Now in its third year, organizers of the G-Day game food drive hope to beat last year’s totals.

“Last year, we managed to raise over 12,000 pounds of food, this year we are striving for more” says David Williams, Food Sourcing Manager for the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia. Last years results were better than excepted. Fans bringing in 12,000 pounds of food provided more than 9,400 meals for those struggling with hunger throughout northeast Georgia!

This years G-Day game will take place on Saturday April 16, 2011 at 1:00 pm. It will be televised on CSS (check local listings) and ESPN3 (outside the CSS viewing area).

For more information on how you can become involved, please contact Dave Williams at (706) 354-8191 or send an email to food@foodbanknega.org. In addition, you can visit their website at foodbanknega.org.
