The UGA Athletic Board approved a ticket hike for the Georgia-Florida game on Thursday. Regular seats were raised from $40 to $60 and club level seats were raised from $70 to $100 beginning in 2012.
In the future, the board will discuss raising ticket prices in 2014 and again in 2017. Regular tickets would rise to $70 in 2014 and $75 in 2017, while club level tickets would rise to $110 in 2014 and $120 in 2017.
“If you look at the other schools that play these traditional games—games of this magnitude—we are well, well below the curve and have been for a number years,” Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity told the board at the King and Prince Golf & Beach Resort. “While it may have some sticker shock today, I think we’ll always be a little below market or right at the market.”
Georgia is looking to snap a 3-game losing streak to Florida in 2011. In their last 21 meetings, the Gators have beaten the Dawgs have 18 of 21 times. This season, both Georgia and Florida have an off week prior to the October 29 game.
