Six travel teams revealed for 2012 Legends Classic

Legends ClassicThis November, Georgia will compete in the 2012 Legends Classic. Two of their games will be played in Athens against teams from the “travel pool” which can consist of up to eight teams.

Six of the travel teams have been revealed (h/t macdaddy): Duquesne, North Dakota State, James Madison, Liberty, UC Irvine and Sam Houston State.

Looking at that list, it would appear that James Madison and Liberty are the two most likely schools to visit Athens based on their proximity. Georgia has never faced either team.

Last season, James Madison was 12-20 and had a final RPI rating of 261. Liberty was slightly worse, finishing 11-18 with a 284 RPI. The Hoop Dawgs finished 15-17 overall and 100th in the RPI.

For reference, here are the ratings of the entire travel pool plus the three host schools that will advance to the semifinals in Brooklyn with Georgia (2011 record, 2011 final RPI, overall record vs. UGA):

  • Georgetown – 22-8, 15, 1-1
