Georgia announces 12 Baseball Signees for 2013-14 Class

The Georgia Bulldogs have signed 12 recruits for their 2013-14 class, head coach Scott Stricklin announced today.

Georgia picked up seven position players, four pitchers, and one recruit who is both an outfielder and a right-handed pitcher.

The early signing period began on November 20 and ended on November 20. The regular signing period runs from April 16 through August 1, 2014.

We are thrilled to announce our first signing class here at the University of Georgia,” Stricklin said.  “Scott Daeley and Fred Corral did an outstanding job evaluating these great student-athletes, and we are looking forward to having them on campus very soon.  The future is very bright here in Athens, and we feel like we have a lot of momentum to go along with this great recruiting class.”

Listed below are the 12 recruits signed by UGA (Bats – Throws):

Spencer Adams (R-R)

Adams (R-R) is a 6-5, 180-pound right-handed pitcher from Cleveland, GA (White County High School). He is rated No. 21 in the Baseball America High School Top 100. As a junior, Adams was 5-4 with a 1.89 ERA and 58 strikeouts in 48.1 innings.

Ryan Avidano (L-L)

Avidano is a 6-7, 225-pound left-handed pitcher from Peachtree City, GA (Starr’s Mill High School). As a junior, he was 9-0 with a 1.37 ERA and 84 strikeouts in 66.2 innings.

Slade Dale (R-R)

Dale is a 5-10, 180-pound shortstop from Ringgold, GA (Ringgold High School). He was named a 2013 preseason All-American by Louisville Slugger and a Chattanooga Free Press All-Star and All-Region in 5-AAA. Last season, Dale batted .417 with seven home runs, 28 RBI and 12 stolen bases.

Josh Day (R-R)

Day is a 6-1, 185-pound catcher from Valdosta, GA (Mill Creek High School). As a junior, he batted .327 with three home runs and 31 RBI.

Max Ford (R-R)

Ford is a 6-2, 190-pound shortstop from Braselton, GA (Jefferson High School). He was named a defensive MVP and All-Region as a junior after batting .390 with 36 RBI.

Michael Gettys (R-R)

Gettys is a 6-2, 220-pound outfielder and right-handed pitcher from Gainesville, GA (Gainesville High School). He is rated as the top prep player according to the Perfect Game Top Prospects for 2014.

Last season, Gettys batted .420 with five home runs and 37 RBI. As a pitcher, He was 10-1 with a 0.77 ERA and 114 strikeouts in 77 innings.

Blake Hamilton (R-R)

Hamilton is a 6-4, 210-pound right-handed pitcher from Ringgold, GA (Heritage High School). As a junior, Hamilton was 7-1 with 30 strikeouts in 52 innings.

Trey Logan (R-R)

Logan is a 5-8, 155-pound shortstop from Suwanee, GA (Lambert High School). Last season, he batted .392. Logan is a two-time recipient of his team’s Gold Glove Award.

Keegan McGovern (L-R)

McGovern is a 6-3, 200-pound shortstop from Willacoochee, GA (Coffee High School). As a junior, McGovern batted .360 with five home runs and 24 RBI.

Logan Moseley (R-R)

Moseley is a 6-0, 175-pound shortstop from Hoschton, GA (Mill Creek High School). He batted .396 with seven home runs and 22 RBI as a junior.Moseley was named the Region 7-A Player of the Year and Gwinnett Daily Post First Team All-County.

Henry Rowling (L-R)

Rowling is a 5-11, 200-pound catcher from Marietta, GA (Walton High School). As a junior, Rowling batted .373 with 13 home runs and 38 RBI and was named First Team All-Region and All-County.

Bo Tucker (L-L)

Tucker is a 6-4, 205-pound left-handed pitcher from Rome, GA (Rome High School). As a junior, Tucker went 2-3 with two saves, a 2.44 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 22 innings. He also batted .366 with 18 RBI and 13 stolen bases and was named All-Area and All-Region.
