ATHENS, Ga. – The Georgia football team went to Sanford Stadium for its first scrimmage of spring practice on Saturday afternoon.

Saturday’s scrimmage marked the seventh practice as the Bulldogs have five more sessions scheduled before the annual G-Day game on April 12 at 1 p.m. Georgia will hold two more practices the week after the spring game.

Following the scrimmage, head coach Mark Richt was encouraged by effort and explained how the intermittent rain showers effected the day’s work.

“I thought the scrimmage was about like the weather: good and bad,” said head coach Mark Richt. “It started pouring rain so it was hard to do anything offensively [for a short period] and the defense played well during that time,” said head coach Mark Richt. “But there were a lot of outstanding plays made on both sides of the ball. The guys played hard today.”

Mason completed 12 of 18 passes for 152 yards and a pair of touchdowns. On the ground, rising sophomore Brendan Douglas carried the ball eight times for 36 yards while rising senior Chris Conley finished with 54 yards receiving and two touchdowns on two catches. Rising sophomore Reggie Davis had a team-high 59 yards on three receptions.

Defensively, rising sophomores Reggie Carter and J.J. Green led the way with seven tackles apiece. Rising sophomore Shaq Wiggins also had a 19-yard interception return.

The Bulldogs will return to practice on Tuesday.
