All-American kicker Rodrigo Blankenship commits to UGA

U.S. Army All-American kicker Rodrigo Blankenship has committed to the Georgia Bulldogs for the class of 2015. Blankenship made his announcement this morning via his Instagram account.

Blankenship (6-1, 180), who plays for Sprayberry High School in Marietta, Ga., will join UGA in 2015 as a preferred walk-on and will then have a scholarship the following season after Marshall Morgan graduates.

Other schools that offered Blankenship include Army, Navy, The Citadel, Cornell, Davidson, and Wofford. He was also drawing interest from Mississippi State, North Carolina, and Rutgers, according to his blog at RodrigoBlankenship.com.

In the 247Sports Composite rankings, Blankenship is listed as a 2-star recruit, the No. 9 kicker in the country.

Blankenship has a very strong leg and has a career-long made field goal of 56 yards. Overall, he is 41-for-64 (65%). On kickoffs this season, he 42 kicks that traveled 70 yards or more.
