Hoop Dawgs Sign Two During Spring 2008 Signing Period

4 Tough Years x 2 Seniors = 8 Days of Glory

The Blue Workhorse, a sports blog that covers almost every sport, has written an article about Georgia Basketball's two great seniors, Sundiata Gaines and Dave Bliss. Below is an excerpt from the article:

University of Georgia (17-17) seniors Sundiata Gaines and Dave Bliss watched as their once 11-point lead slowly slipped away to the #3 seeded Xavier Musketeers (28-6) in the first round of the NCAA national tournament. The Bulldogs fell 73-61 but the score was not indicative of just how well UGA played throughout the game. They led by 7 with less than 10 minutes remaining and trailed by only 3 with just over a minute remaining before Xavier ended the game on a 9-0 free throw run.  Full Story...

Unbelievable! Georgia Wins 2008 SEC Tournament Championship

The Georgia Bulldogs completed an improbable run of four games in three days to win the 2008 SEC Tournament Championship. The Dawgs defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks 66-57 on Sunday. A tornado and other severe weather damaged the Georgia Dome on Friday night forcing the postponement of the 2nd Round Georgia-Kentucky game. The remainder of the tournament was then relocated to nearby Alexander Memorial Coliseum on the campus of Georgia Tech. The Bulldogs defeated the Wildcats 60-56 in overtime, and then approximately six hours later on Saturday night, defeated the Mississippi State Bulldogs 64-60 to advance to the Championship game.  Full Story...


Bliss Beats Ole Miss In 1st Round Of SEC Tournament

With only seconds left in overtime, Sundiata Gaines inbounded the ball to Corey Butler, who promptly drove the court and dished to..........senior Dave Bliss. That's right, Dave Bliss. The Rebels did a good job defending Sundiata Gaines, the usual go-to guy for the Dawgs. Left wide open, Bliss banked his shot off the glass with .4 seconds remaining to give the Bulldogs a 97-95 win over the Rebels in the 1st Round of the 2008 SEC Tournament.  Full Story...


Dawgs Lose Again; Felton's Future At UGA To Be Determined

The Georgia Bulldogs lost 76-62 to the visiting Ole Miss Rebels on Saturday in their 2007-08 season finale. It was the final game at home for Bulldog seniors Sundiata Gaines and Dave Bliss. Bliss, who usually wears number 44, donned the number 3 jersey in honor of his fallen teammate Kevin Brophy.  Full Story...


Dawgs Beat Gamecocks, End 5-Game Losing Skid

The Georgia Bulldogs needed a win. After losing 5 straight, coupled with the suspension of Billy Humphrey and Dennis Felton's future at UGA, the Dawgs were at their lowest point all season. To make matters worse, freshman Chris Barnes was held out due to an eye injury. Senior Sundiata Gaines brushed all of that aside and led UGA to an 82-64 victory over South Carolina in Athens.  Full Story...


Billy Humphrey Arrested For Underage Possession

The downward spiral continues for the Georgia Bulldogs Basketball program. The AJC and other sites are reporting that guard Billy Humphrey was arrested early this morning for underage possession of alcohol and failure to obey a traffic device. This comes on the heels of a four-game losing streak after last nights 67-59 loss at home to the Vanderbilt Commodores.  Full Story...


Georgia Beats Georgia Tech 79-72

It's been a rough 1st half of the season for the Georgia Bulldogs Basketball program. First, Mike Mercer and Takais Brown were dismissed from the team. Then Rashaad Singleton quit citing a lack of playing time. But that wasn't enough to help the visiting Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, who fell to the Bulldogs 79-72 on Wednesday.  Full Story...


Mike Mercer Dismissed From UGA Basketball Team

Mike Mercer, a Junior guard from Snellville, Georgia, has been dismissed from the Georgia Bulldogs Basketball team, Dennis Felton announced today. Mercer was already serving a 15-game suspension for violating the UGA Athletic Department's new academic attendance policy.  Full Story...


Georgia Hoops Signs Three During Fall 2007 Signing Period

Wednesday, November 14 marked the first day of the 2007-08 early signing period, and the Georgia Bulldogs signed three highly-ranked players. Dennis Felton and the Dawgs received Letters of Intent from power forward Howard Thompkins, guard Dustin Ware and forward Drazen Zlovaric.  Full Story...
