EverBank has announced that they have signed a deal for naming rights to Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. The new name of the stadium will be Everbank Field.
The stadium is home to the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars and is currently the home of the annual Georgia-Florida game through 2016.

Florida Atlantic University (FAU) plans to trademark the term “Between the Palms” in time for the opening of their new on-campus football stadium in the Fall of 2011 (source).
“Between the Hedges” is synonymous with Georgia Bulldogs football and works well for UGA. I’m not sure how well “Between the Palms” will work for a smaller athletic program such as FAU, but it will give them some new marketing material.

The NCAA has informed the University of Georgia that they plan to conduct an “inquiry” on campus. This comes in the wake of an investigation into alleged improper contact by sports agents with student-athletes at other SEC schools.
News of the investigation has been swirling for a few weeks now. It started at North Carolina, where defensive end Marvin Austin and others were rumored to have attended a party held by a sports agent in Miami.

Six Georgia Bulldogs were named to the Coaches’ Preseason All-SEC Teams on Tuesday. Four Dawgs made the first team and two made the second team.
Named to the first team were Wide receiver A.J. Green, offensive lineman Clint Boling, punter Drew Butler and placekicker Blair Walsh.

The Georgia Bulldogs picked up two verbal commitments Friday evening. Offensive tackle Zach Debell and center Nathan Theus both committed to Georgia during the Bulldogs’ annual “Dawg Night” event. The Bulldogs now have 15 commitments for 2011.

A fund raising effort has been initiated after a fire destroyed the Damascus home of Georgia Bulldogs safety Shawn Williams. In 2009, Williams appeared in 13 games and recorded five tackles. He also posted a career-best three tackles in UGA’s victory over Texas A&M in the Independence Bowl.

Offensive lineman Hunter Long of Eads, Tennessee has committed to the Georgia Bulldogs. He is the 13th commitment for the Dawgs for 2011.
Eads (6-3, 293) attends Briarcrest Christian School. He committed to UGA over offers Memphis, Middle Tennessee and Southern Miss. Hunter’s older brother is Austin Long, a redshirt freshman at Georgia.
