A 45-yard touchdown pass from A.J. McCarron to Amari Cooper proved to be the game winner as #2 Alabama defeated #3 Georgia in the 2012 SEC Championship Game. The loss drops Georgia to 11-2 on the season.
The Bulldogs had a chance to win the game in the final seconds when Aaron Murray led the Dawgs all the way to Alabama’s eight-yard line. But instead of spiking the ball, UGA decided to run a play for a TD in the end zone. Unfortunately, Murray’s pass was tipped at the line of scrimmage and was caught by Chris Conley.
Conley was short of the goal line and since Georgia had no time outs, they were unable to stop the clock which painfully ran out.

It’s almost game time! 3rd-ranked Georgia will take on 2nd-ranked Alabama in the 2012 SEC Championship Game this Saturday at the Georgia Dome. The game will be televised by CBS at 4 p.m. ET.
The game is officially sold out, but tickets are available through our vendor TicketNetwork.com. Prices for the game are slowly falling, with the cheapest ticket currently at $258. Last week, the lowest prices was over $350.
The stakes couldn’t be higher in this game. Not only does the winner win the 2012 SEC Championship, but they will also finish 2nd in the BCS standings which places them in the 2013 BCS National Championship Game on Jan. 7 against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (Tickets).

On Saturday, the no. 12 Georgia Bulldogs take on the no. 1 LSU Tigers in the 2011 Dr. Pepper SEC Championship Game at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. The game will be televised by CBS at 4:00 p.m. ET.
Georgia will be the visiting team but will wear their traditional red jerseys. LSU is designated as the home team and chose to wear their white jerseys.
The Bulldogs have appeared in the SEC Championship Game three times and have a 2-1 record. They beat Arkansas 30-3 in 2002, lost to LSU 34-13 in 2003 and beat LSU 34-14 in 2005.
