Legendary University of Georgia running back Kevin McLee died Sunday at his home in West Covina, California. McLee, 52, died of a stroke that he suffered one week earlier. He played for the Bulldogs from 1974 until 1977.
McLee signed with Georgia after playing football at Uniontown High School in Uniontown, Pennsylvania. He was not a highly regarded recruit, but that didn't stop him from breaking a few records while in Athens.
McLee led the Bulldogs in rushing in 1976 (218 rushes, 1058 yards, 6 TD's) and 1977 (178 rushes, 717 yards, 5 TD's). His best rushing performances were in 1976 against Florida (198 yards) and Auburn (203 yards). That year, McLee helped the Bulldogs win the 1976 SEC Championship and he went on to become a first-team All-SEC selection.
