Georgia Scores 52 in Death Valley, Beats LSU 52-38

Georgia Bulldogs

The Bulldogs have had a difficult time scoring points lately. That ended last night. Darryl Gamble intercepted a pass from LSU quarterback Jarrett Lee on the first play of the game and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown. The Bulldogs went on the score 45 more points in Death Valley and thumped the Tigers 52-38.

Knowshon Moreno rushed 21 times for 163 yards and a touchdown. The touchdown came on a 68-yard run in the 3rd quarter that put the Bulldogs ahead 38-17.

Linebacker Darryl Gamble accounted for Georgia’s last score after intercepting another Jarrett Lee pass. This time he returned it 53 yards for the score.

Other than the defensive scores, the most important key to victory was Junior quarterback Matthew Stafford. Stafford was calm under fire all game and completed key passes when he needed them. He finished the game 17-of-26 for 249 yards and two touchdowns. His first TD pass came early in the 2nd quarter on a fade pass to Kenneth Harris. His second was a 49 yard strike to freshman receiver A.J. Green in the 3rd quarter.

The win moves the Bulldogs to 7-1 overall and 4-1 in the SEC. Georgia is still tied atop the SEC East with the Florida Gators. That will change this weekend as the Dawgs and Gators face off in Jacksonville.
