The 2010 preseason USA Today Coaches’ Top 25 Football Poll has been released and the Georgia Bulldogs are ranked 21st. The Dawgs received 312 points and are 62 points behind the 20th ranked Florida State Seminoles.
The Alabama Crimson Tide are ranked first and received 55 first place votes. Ohio State received the remaining four first place votes.

I’m sure you’ve seen this by now. It’s the “Party in the UGA” video made for 2010 freshman orientation at the University of Georgia.
This is a massive pile of fail on so many levels. Not only is the video embarrassing in and of itself, Georgia was named the number one party school in America by the Princeton Review. Sprinkle in Damon Evans’ DUI and the numerous player arrests in 2010 and what do you get? America laughing at the Bulldogs once again.

Under the Lights: Georgia Football will debut Saturday, August 7 10:00 p.m. ET on SportSouth. The program is a 30-minute special that highlights the University of Georgia’ football program.

In a rarity, the AJC has obtained official documentation of Georgia’s 2010-11 non-conference basketball opponents. Sicemdawgs.com and others have been reporting on the games for the last several months.
I say rarity because the local media rarely pays attention to Georgia’s basketball schedule prior to it’s official release.

The Georgia Bulldogs and Colorado Buffaloes have scheduled a home-and-home basketball series in 2010 and 2011, CUBuffs.com has reported.
Georgia will host Colorado at Stegeman Coliseum on November 16, 2010. The Bulldogs will travel face Colorado in Boulder in 2011. The exact date will not be determined until next year.

It’s almost time Dawg fans! The Georgia Bulldogs began Fall practice yesterday in preparation for the 2010 football season and the opener September 4 against Louisiana-Lafayette.
Redshirt freshman Aaron Murray enters as the number one quarterback followed by true freshman Hutson Mason. Parker Welch and Greg Bingham, both true freshman walk-ons, round out the young quarterback crew.

Another opponent has been revealed on the 2010-11 Georgia Bulldogs basketball schedule. The Hoop Dawgs will host the High Point University Panthers on Tuesday, December 21, 2010.
This will be the first meeting ever between the two schools. High Point University is located in High Point, North Carolina and is a member of the Big South Conference.

The Georgia Bulldogs will play at the Mercer Bears on December 23, 2010. Macon.com published a story on Mercer’s 2010-11 schedule this morning.
The game will be played on Mercer’s campus at The University Center, which was opened in 2005 and seats 3,200.

The 2010 Old Spice Classic basketball tournament bracket has not been officially released yet, but the first round matchups are known. As we reported last week, Georgia will face Notre Dame.
Madison.com reports that the Wisconsin Badgers will face the Manhattan Jaspers. They also state that Wisconsin will play the winner of Boston College and Texas A&M.

EverBank has announced that they have signed a deal for naming rights to Jacksonville Municipal Stadium. The new name of the stadium will be Everbank Field.
The stadium is home to the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars and is currently the home of the annual Georgia-Florida game through 2016.

The Georgia Bulldogs will host the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens on November 20, 2010. MVSU’s 2010-11 schedule was released on Tuesday confirming the matchup.
Last week, it was revealed that Georgia will likely face Notre Dame in the first round of the Old Spice Classic in Orlando on November 25.

Florida Atlantic University (FAU) plans to trademark the term “Between the Palms” in time for the opening of their new on-campus football stadium in the Fall of 2011 (source).
“Between the Hedges” is synonymous with Georgia Bulldogs football and works well for UGA. I’m not sure how well “Between the Palms” will work for a smaller athletic program such as FAU, but it will give them some new marketing material.

The NCAA has informed the University of Georgia that they plan to conduct an “inquiry” on campus. This comes in the wake of an investigation into alleged improper contact by sports agents with student-athletes at other SEC schools.
News of the investigation has been swirling for a few weeks now. It started at North Carolina, where defensive end Marvin Austin and others were rumored to have attended a party held by a sports agent in Miami.
