Athlete Xavier Avery Commits; Dawgs Now Have 21 Commitments for 2008

Xavier Avery, who plays safety and running back, has committed to Mark Richt and the Georgia Bulldogs. Avery, who attends Cedar Grove High School in Ellenwood, Georgia, is rated as a 3-star recruit and the 36th best athlete by Rivals.com. His commitment gives the Bulldogs a total of 21 verbal commitments for 2008.

Avery (5-11, 185, 4.4) committed to UGA over offers from Alabama, Florida, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss, South Carolina and Stanford. He is a 2-sport star that will also play baseball for the Diamond Dawgs. As a Junior, Avery compiled 1,600 yards of total offense and scored 13 touchdowns. In baseball, he hit .668 and was 47 of 47 in stolen bases.
