Georgia Dominates Hawaii 41-10 in 2008 Sugar Bowl

Georgia Bulldogs

For over a month, all the Georgia Bulldogs heard about was Colt Brennan and the potency of the Hawaii Warriors offense. The Dawgs’ defense rose to the occasion, forcing six Hawaii turnovers as UGA rolled over the previously undefeated Hawaii Warriors 41-10 in the 2008 Allstate Sugar Bowl.

Playing in his last game as a Bulldog, senior tailback Thomas Brown rushed 19 times for 74 yards and a touchdown. Redshirt freshman Knowshon Moreno, coming off of a sprained ankle suffered against Georgia Tech, rushed for 60 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Defensive end Marcus Howard had three sacks, two forced fumbles (one recovered in the end zone for a touchdown) and a tipped ball that was intercepted by linebacker Dannell Ellerbe. His effort earned him the 2008 Sugar Bowl MVP award.

Quarterback Matthew Stafford completed 14 of 23 passes for 175 yards and one touchdown. He completed the touchdown pass to Sean Bailey for 11-yards in the 2nd quarter.

Georgia, ranked 5th in the final BCS standings, won its final 7 games of the 2007 season. After losing early games to South Carolina and Tennessee, the Dawgs rallied to beat Florida, Auburn, Kentucky, Georgia Tech and Hawaii.
