Georgia Finishes 2007 Season 2nd in AP Poll, 3rd in Coaches

Georgia Bulldogs

The Georgia Bulldogs were ranked 2nd in the final Associated Press Poll and 3rd in the final USA Today Coaches Poll, which were released after LSU’s win over Ohio State in the 2008 BCS National Championship game. The Bulldogs completed a stellar season with a convincing 41-10 win over previously unbeaten Hawaii in the 2008 Sugar Bowl. In the AP Poll, LSU placed first, followed by Georgia, USC, Missouri and Ohio State. LSU also finished first in the USA Today Poll, followed by USC, Georgia, Ohio State and Missouri.

Early losses to South Carolina (16-12) and Tennessee (35-14) nearly derailed the 2007 season. But the Mark Richt and the Dawgs rebounded to win their final seven games, with big victories over Florida, Auburn, Kentucky, Georgia Tech and Hawaii.

Looking ahead to the 2008 season, the Georgia Bulldogs should be among the top 5 teams in most preseason polls. In fact, a few unofficial polls have already been released. The Dawgs are ranked 2nd by Rivals.com, 1st by Tony Barnhart of the AJC and 1st by Stewart Mandel of SI.com.
