Georgia Baseball To Host 2008 NCAA Regional

After clinching the SEC Baseball Championship, the Diamond Dawgs struggled going 1-4 in their last 5 games, including two losses to eliminate them from the SEC Tournament. But the Dogs were rewarded with the 8th seed in the College World Series and will host a 1st round Regional in Athens.

The three other teams in Georgia’s region are Georgia Tech, Lipscomb and Louisville. Georgia will face Lipscomb on Friday, May 30 at 3 p.m. The winner will face the winner of Lipscomb-Louisville on Saturday, May 31 at 7 p.m. while the losers will face off at 3 p.m. The Regionals are a double-elimination format. The Athens Regional schedule is listed below:

Friday, May 30

Game 1: Georgia vs. TBA, 3 p.m. ET
Game 2: TBA vs. TBA, 7 p.m. ET

Saturday, May 31

Game 3: Loser of Game 1 vs. Loser of Game 2, 3 p.m. ET
Game 4: Winner of Game 1 vs. Winner of Game 2, 7 p.m. ET

Sunday, June 1

Game 5: Loser of Game 4 vs. Winner of Game 3, 2 p.m. ET
Game 6: Winner of Game 4 vs. Winner of Game 5, 6 p.m. ET

*Monday, June 2 (*If Necessary)

Game 7: Winner of Game 6 vs. Loser of Game 6, 7 p.m. ET

Should the Dawgs win the Athens Regional, they would advance to the Super Regionals to face either North Carolina State, South Carolina, Charlotte or James Madison.
