The Georgia Bulldogs basketball team is set to face the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers tonight at 9:30 p.m. in the 1st round of the NIT Season Tip-Off. The winner will face the winner of the Purdue-Eastern Michigan matchup, and the losers will face off in a consolation game. The game is not televised but will be broadcast on WSB 750-AM.
Georgia is 1-0 on the season after a 72-48 win over USC-Upstate on Friday. This will be their first appearance in the NIT Season Tip-Off (formerly the Pre-Season NIT) since 1998.
Freshman phenom Trey Thompkins is making the trip despite an ankle injury that has kept him on the bench. On whether Thompkins was going to play in the tournament, Dennis Felton told the AJC “There’s a chance. I can’t quantify it, but there’s a chance.”
