Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno To Enter The NFL Draft?

SicEmDawgs.com

Update:

Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno made it official at a 3:00 p.m. news conference on Wednesday. They are both leaving UGA to enter the NFL Draft. The official UGA site has the story, photos and video.

Today is the decision day for quarterback Matthew Stafford and tailback Knowshon Moreno, both University of Georgia Bulldog standouts. Both players are generally regarded as high first round NFL Draft picks should they declare.

Stafford, a junior, will announce his decision at noon today. In 2008, Stafford completed 235-of-383 passes for 25 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He has been regarded by some services as the first quarterback taken and the no. 1 overall pick if he decides to turn pro.

Moreno, a redshirt sophomore, will also make his announcement today. In 2008, Moreno rushed 250 times for 1400 yards and 16 touchdowns. He also caught 33 passes for 392 yards and 2 touchdowns. Most services have Moreno as the first running back taken in the draft which likely means he could be a top 10-15 pick.

Although not unexpected, rumors are already swirling this morning that both Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno have decided to enter the NFL Draft. Bleacher Report has an article on the subject, and there are the same rumblings over at The Dawgvent on UGASports.com.

If Stafford and Moreno do decide to enter the 2009 NFL Draft, we wish each of these fine Bulldogs a great future in the NFL and we applaud them for their contribution to UGA Football.
