Georgia Upsets No. 17 Georgia Tech 73-66

Trey Thompkins scored 20 points as the Georgia Bulldogs beat the 17th ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 73-66. The win was the 13th in a row over Georgia Tech at Stegeman Coliseum in Athens, where Tech hasn’t won since 1976.

Other Dawgs scoring in double-figures were Ricky McPhee (16), Dustin Ware (13) and Travis Leslie (12). Jeremy Price and Ebuka Anyaorah each added 5 points off the bench.

Georgia Tech now leads the overall series 100-85. The two teams have split the last eight games.

The win tonight completes the “Just Like Football” sweep for the Bulldogs. Georgia defeated Georgia Tech in football 30-24 in November.

Georgia opens SEC play on Saturday against the 3rd ranked Kentucky Wildcats (15-0) in Lexington. The game will be televised by the SEC Network at 4:00 p.m. ET.
