Damon Evans Out as Athletics Director at UGA

SicEmDawgs.com

Damon Evans is out as the Athletics Director of the Georgia Bulldogs, effective Monday. Evans was arrested Wednesday night in Atlanta and charged with DUI.

Sources close to the situation told the television station that UGA President Michael Adams asked for and received Damon Evans’ resignation.

The news will be officially announced on Monday during an 11 a.m. teleconference of the executive committee of the University of Georgia Athletic Association.

It appears that the DUI charge alone is not what did Damon Evans in, but rather the 28-year female he was with and how he handled himself after being taken into custody (see police report).

Two possible candidates for the now vacant position are Greg McGarity, executive senior associate athletic director at Florida, and Billy Payne, Chairman of the Augusta National Golf Club.
