Chick-fil-A College KickoffRumors are swirling that the Georgia Bulldogs may face the Boise State Broncos in the 2011 Chick-fil-A College Kickoff at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta. UGA head coach Mark Richt and A.D. Greg McGarity have both declined to comment on the report.

The Bulldogs have already completed their 2011 football schedule, and they are slated to open at home on September 3 against the Louisville Cardinals. Seth Emerson reports that Richt said “I’ll tell you on Monday.” Also, Emerson reports that a source at Louisville stated “Georgia has reached out to that school in an effort to move or cancel the series.”

ESPN is said to be behind the deal and would likely have to find a matchup for Louisville if the deal goes through. There are also some other wrinkles to the story, writes UGASports.com:

Boise State is currently scheduled to play at Ole Miss on Sept. 3, but Rebel athletic director Pete Boone tweeted that the school would have a “big football announcement.” Later, he posted “Sorry about the delay announcing future football’s future schedule. A lot of moving parts and ESPN has a few loose ends.”

Georgia and Boise State’s only prior meeting came in 2005 at Sanford Stadium in Athens. The Broncos, led by Jared Zabransky, came in highly touted, but were dominated 48-13 by D.J. Shockley and the Bulldogs.
