JUCO Center John Florveus Signs with the Hoop Dawgs

John FlorveusJUCO center John Florveus has signed a national letter of intent to play for Mark Fox and the Georgia Bulldogs. He is the first recruit to sign with UGA during the early signing period, which began today and runs through Wednesday, November 17.

Florveus (7-0, 215) graduated from Dunbar High School in Fort Myers, Florida and currently plays for Hillsborough Community College in Tampa Bay. He signed with the Dawgs over offers from Iowa State, Marshall, UTEP and Washington State.

Last season at Hillsborough CC, Florveus blocked 64 shots in 24 games. Overall, he averaged 8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game.

Florveus will enter the 2011-12 season as a Junior and will have three years to play two seasons for the Dawgs.

Mark Fox on Florveus:

“John is a long, athletic player who is really quick on his feet and he runs the floor extremely well,” Fox said.  “We’re excited about adding a player of his size and potential.”
