Georgia led by as many as 23-points, but had to hang on late to beat South Carolina 60-56 in Columbia. The win moves the Hoop Dawgs to 17-7 overall (6-4 SEC).

Georgia led by 19 at the half and by 23 with just over 11 minutes left in the game. But a 32-13 run by the Gamecocks brought them within two with just over a minute left.

Thompkins led the Bulldogs with 16 points and 9 rebounds. And with six seconds remaining in the game, he blocked Bruce Ellington’s 3-point attempt which would have tied the game.

Travis Leslie, who scored 13, was the only other Bulldog to score in double-figures.

Next up for the Bulldogs is a home game against the Vanderbilt Commodores on Wednesday, February 16 (7:00 p.m. ET; ESPNU).
