$99,850,500 budget approved by UGA Athletic Board

A fiscal year 2015 budget of $99,850,500 was approved Thursday highlighting the quarterly meeting of the University of Georgia Athletic Association Board of Directors.

J. Reid Parker Director of Athletics Greg McGarity also provided facility updates including the Foley Field renovations scheduled to begin immediately and completion of the football practice fields resurfacing and lights installation. He also requested and received approval for required equipment and installation funds related to the launch of the SEC Network scheduled for August 14. Funds for Sanford Stadium and South SkySuites sound system improvements and a video board for the Nalley Multi-Purpose Room were also approved.

Also included in the budget, as in 2014, is $4 million which will be returned to the University. Since 2007, over $23 million has been returned to the University from the Athletic Association.

Faculty Athletics Representative David Shipley delivered an academic report which included student-athlete awards and an overall review of the 2013-14 academic year. In other business, two new student-athlete representatives to the Board were appointed: Chris Conley, football, and Niaja Griffin, softball.
