New UGA basketball head coach Tom Crean has picked up his first commitment for 2019! Four-star guard Jaykwon Walton announced his commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs today.

Jaykwon Walton plays for Carver High School in Montgomery, Alabama. Earlier this summer, Walton spoke to UGASports.com about his feelings for Georgia.

“It’s a nice program,” Walton said. “They have nice coaches, great facilities and they have a nice team.”

Walton (6-6, 196) had been committed to Mississippi State, but decommitted from the “other” Bulldogs last week. He committed to Georgia over offers from Mississippi State, Florida, Memphis, Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, and others.

In the 247Sports Composite, Jaykwon Walton is listed as a four-star recruit, the No. 7 shooting guard, and the No. 59 overall recruit for the 2019 class.

Rivals.com also rates Jaykwon Walton as a four star-recruit and the No. 54 overall recruit for 2019.
