Georgia’s Jake Fromm named Davey O’Brien Award semifinalist

ATHENS, Ga. – Georgia junior quarterback Jake Fromm has been named one of 16 semifinalists for the Davey O’Brien National Quarterback Award, which is presented to the country’s top quarterback.

Fromm was also a semifinalist for the 2018 honor. Three finalists will be announced on Nov. 25. The award’s winner will be announced live on ESPN on Dec. 12 at the Home Depot College Football Awards in Atlanta.

After clearing the first round totals, the Fan Vote at VoteOBrien.org will reopen on Wednesday and remain open until 10 p.m. Nov. 24 for the second round of balloting. Fans are invited to cast their vote for the nation’s best college quarterback once daily per email address.

Fromm, a native of Warner Robins, Ga., has directed the Bulldogs to an 8-1 start by going 156-of-233 for 1,858 yards with 13 touchdowns and only three interceptions. The 2019 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team member has led Georgia to wins over No. 7 Notre Dame and No. 6 Florida this season and has started an FBS best 37 straight games for quarterbacks.

The No. 5 Bulldogs (8-1, 5-1 SEC) travel to Auburn, Ala., to face the No. 13 Tigers (7-2, 4-2) on Saturday. CBS will televise the matchup at 3:30 p.m.
