Georgia ranked 9th in first College Football Playoff rankings of 2020

The Georgia Bulldogs are ranked 9th in the first College Football Playoff rankings of the 2020 season released Tuesday evening by the College Football Playoff Selection Committee.

Alabama is ranked first, and the Crimson Tide are followed by Notre Dame, Clemson, Ohio State, and Texas A&M.

Georgia has beaten one team that is ranked in the first College Football Playoff rankings — Auburn is No. 22. The Bulldogs fell to No. 1 Alabama and No. 6 Florida earlier this season.

The Bulldogs are currently ranked 10th in the Amway Coaches Poll and 13th in the AP Poll.

The College Football Playoff Selection Committee will release their Top 25 rankings each week on Tuesday through Dec. 15. Below is the schedule of dates (all times Eastern):

  • Tuesday, November 24
  • Tuesday, December 1
  • Tuesday, December 8
  • Tuesday, December 15
  • Sunday, December 20 (Selection Day)

On Sunday, Dec. 20 at Noon ET, the College Football Playoff Selection Committee will announce the Playoff Semifinal pairings and semifinal bowl assignments. Those will be followed by the pairings for the remainder of the New Year’s Six bowl games.

Georgia’s next game is this Saturday on the road against the South Carolina Gamecocks. The game will be televised by the SEC Network at 7:30pm ET.
