UGA junior quarterback JT Daniels has been named to the 2021 Davey O’Brien Award Watch List, the Davey O’Brien Foundation has announced.

The Davey O’Brien Award is an annual award given to the nation’s top quarterback. Daniels is one of 30 student-athletes named to this year’s watch list that is based on “career player performance and expectations heading into the 2021 college football season.”

Other SEC quarterbacks named to the 2021 watch list include Connor Bazelak (Missouri, So.) and Matt Corral (Ole Miss, Jr.).

Sixteen semifinalists for the 2021 Davey O’Brien Award will be announced on Monday, Nov. 8, followed by the three finalists on Monday, Nov. 22. The winner of the 2021 Davey O’Brien Award will be announced at the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on Thursday, Dec. 9 live on ESPN.

JT Daniels transferred to Georgia from USC and played in four games last season for the Bulldogs. He completed 80 of 119 passes (67.2%) for 1,231 yards and 10 touchdowns.

The Georgia Bulldogs are scheduled to open the 2021 season against the Clemson Tigers in the Duke’s Mayo Classic at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C., on Saturday, Sept. 4.
