Bulldogs beat Ole Miss 27-13

SicEmDawgs.com

UGAGeorgia picked up their first SEC win of the 2011 season with a 27-13 victory over the Ole Miss Rebels in Oxford. With the win, the Dawgs are now 2-2 overall and 1-1 in the SEC.

Aaron Murray finished the game 17-of-26 for 268 yards with two touchdowns and one interception. Murray tossed TD passes to tight ends Orson Charles and Aron White.

Malcolm Mitchell led all UGA receivers with three receptions for 93 yards. Orson Charles had five catches for 59 yards and Aron White caught three for 52 yards.

True freshman Isaiah Crowell led the Dawgs on the ground with 30 carries for 147 yards while Richard Samuel had 10 carries for 40 yards.

For the second consecutive game, the Georgia defense held their opponent to under 2o0 yards of offense. The Rebels finished the game with only 183 yards and one offensive touchdown.

One downside to the game was that Georgia kicker Blair Walsh missed three field goals in the second half. That coupled with a few other Georgia mistakes made the final outcome closer than it probably should have been.

Nevertheless, a win in the SEC is a win, especially on the road. We’ll take it and we’ll move on to the next game.

Mark Richt is now 5-0 against Ole Miss and 5-0 against Houston Nutt (4-0 vs. Arkansas, 1-0 vs. Ole Miss).

On Saturday, October 1, Georgia hosts the Mississippi State Bulldogs. The game will be televised by FSN at 12:00 p.m. ET (Tickets).
